Please click on the link above to see one of my entries in this year's Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year competition.
I am very excited to see my entry being used on the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year's Facebook page today. I am delighted that this year, I had three shortlisted entries: one in the Pink Lady An Apple a Day category, one in the Bringing Home the Harvest category and one in the Food in Action category.
I am very proud to have got this far because thousands of photographers from all over the world enter this competition so I am up against some of the very best. I am even more pleased that one of the competion judges is someone whose work I really admire. He is a photographer called David Loftus and he does absolutely loads of food photography for many famous chefs including Jamie Oliver...in fact I think they are really good mates too! I am very pleased that Lord Loftus (!) approves of my photography. I really enjoy food photography but it can be hard work without a props stylist and a food stylist to help set up the shot...and of course the chef.
I have been taking images from my travels over the past year where I always visit the beautiful food markets looking for possible competition shots. I also work in my studio setting up shots like the one used on the link above. I am slowly collecting a fab selection of props that work on shots like this and picked up the little Box Brownie camera seen in this shot from a local antiques market for just a few pounds...it is now earning its keep!
Anyway, voting is now closed and I will just have to wait and see what comes out of the People's Choice vote. IN ANY EVENT, WATCH THIS SPACE AS MORE EXCITING NEWS ON THIS SUBJECT WILL BE POSTED SOON......EEK!
